General Information on Roulette Game

Roulette is one of the gambling games which does not require special abilities or knowledge of the game system. It is a game of chance, which can either benefit you or not.

Roulette is the ultimate casino game, and has been played for over two centuries, managing to find its way into popular culture becoming one of the most loved games. Of course, roulette is the classic game of chance, but it is not quite as simple as picking a number and seeing where the ball lands, so here we will take a look at some basics of roulette.

That bit about the classic game of chance is probably the first thing that newcomers or experienced players need to consider. No matter what you may read, roulette IS a game of chance, that does not say there are no strategies in betting that may reward a win in a positive way, but it does mean that you can never predict the final outcome of a roulette wheel spin.

However, one of the things that draw people to roulette is the simplicity of the game, which makes for much excitement and quick fire action. The basic concept of roulette is for you “Player” to play against the house, where you will bet on the outcome of a ball spinning on a wheel. The roulette wheel is made up of the number 1 through 36, with either one or two zeros depending on the variant of roulette being played.

The numbers on the wheel are split into red and black pockets, with odd numbers represented by black and the even numbers represented by red (zero is represented by green). This colour choice is where the world famous chance bet red or black derives, and it is perhaps the most famous element of roulette.

In roulette the player plays against the house, which will be in the form of a casino employee known as the dealer, or banker, although in the case of online roulette the house has no physical representation. There is a betting area that accompanies the main roulette wheel, and it is on this area where the player can do the pre spin bets, which includes various different combinations of number bets, aside from the classic 50/50 wagers that the game is famous for.

Once all bets have been placed the dealer will firstly spin the wheel, and then spin a white ball into the wheel in the opposite direction (this is automated for online roulette). Where the ball ends when it and the wheel come to a stop will determine if a player has won the betting round or not, but the simple aim is to predict where the ball will stop.

A roulette table can accommodate up to 8 players, but remember none of those players are in direct competition, and neither do they increase or decrease your chance of success. Roulette is completely up to chance, if the wheel lands on a red 100 consecutive times, there is still a 50/50 chance that it will be red or black next time. This makes roulette the most exciting of casino table games, and the most unpredictable, while it is a great form of entertainment.
